ClauseTrace

ClauseTrace is a web app (with optional mobile companion) for advocacy and government affairs teams that need to track how specific bill language evolves across drafts, amendments, and committee substitutes. Instead of generic bill alerts, it lets users define “watch clauses” (exact text, regex, or semantic meaning) and then automatically highlights additions, deletions, and rewrites with plain-English summaries. An AI layer clusters similar language across different bills and jurisdictions, helping teams spot copy-paste policy trends and model language migration. Users can attach internal positions, talking points, and stakeholder notes directly to each clause, creating a living record that survives staff turnover. Exports generate a clean “change log” for executives or coalition partners. Realistically, the hardest part is data normalization and getting reliable legislative document feeds; the product must start with a limited set of jurisdictions and expand deliberately.
