ClauseTrail

ClauseTrail is a web app (with optional desktop sync) for teams drowning in shared drives and “final_v7” documents. Instead of organizing by folders, it indexes documents by the clauses, definitions, and key terms inside them—so you can search “termination for convenience” and instantly see every occurrence across contracts, policies, and templates. It supports version-aware comparisons, highlights clause changes over time, and lets admins create “clause watchlists” that alert when risky language appears in newly uploaded files. It’s not a full contract lifecycle management suite; it’s a focused document management layer that sits on top of existing storage (Google Drive, SharePoint, Dropbox) and makes retrieval and governance actually usable. The MVP prioritizes fast search, reliable ingestion, and audit-friendly exports over fancy dashboards. If it can’t beat Ctrl+F and folder spelunking, it’s not worth paying for.
