CoatingCue
CoatingCue is a web app with an AI-assisted rules engine that helps labs and small manufacturers troubleshoot thin-film and coating process failures (poor adhesion, pinholes, cracking, delamination, haze). Users log a failed run with a structured template: substrate, surface prep, coating chemistry, viscosity, ambient conditions, cure profile, thickness, and observed defect photos. The app returns a ranked shortlist of likely root causes and practical next experiments (e.g., change surface energy via plasma, adjust solvent blend, modify bake ramp, add adhesion promoter, control humidity). It also builds a searchable internal “failure library” so teams stop repeating the same mistakes when staff changes. This is not a magic oracle: it works best when users provide consistent data and are willing to run controlled experiments. The MVP focuses on common coating stacks and defects, not every material system on earth.
