CodeCue
CodeCue is a web app with an EHR-embedded widget that flags documentation gaps that commonly trigger denials or downcoding (e.g., missing laterality, acuity, causal links, present-on-admission, device details). It watches the note as it’s being written and provides short, specialty-specific prompts with compliant phrasing suggestions and links to the exact guideline or payer policy reference. Unlike generic “AI scribe” tools, CodeCue focuses on defensible completeness and audit readiness: it creates a lightweight “evidence map” tying each coded condition/procedure to the supporting note section, labs, imaging, and orders. It also generates a CDI query draft when needed, with reason codes and a clear clinical rationale. Admin dashboards show denial patterns by service line and provider, and which prompts actually reduced rework. This is not magic: it won’t fix bad clinical care, but it can reduce preventable documentation misses.
