ColdOpen is a cross-platform companion that detects and skips intros, “previously on” recaps, and end credits for streaming originals—without waiting for platforms to add skip buttons. It works by listening to short audio fingerprints (optionally) or reading on-screen cues (OCR) to identify segments, then triggers remote-control actions via supported devices (Android TV, Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV, and select smart TVs). Users can fine-tune aggressiveness per show, set rules (e.g., never skip cold opens), and share segment markers with the community so accuracy improves quickly. It’s realistic about limitations: it won’t work on every device, DRM can block screen capture, and some platforms break automation. The MVP focuses on a small set of devices and a handful of major services, prioritizing reliability over broad claims. Monetization is a low-cost subscription for power users and households.
