ColeoScout

ColeoScout is a mobile + web app for recording beetle (Coleoptera) observations with clean, research-ready data. Instead of trying to “auto-identify everything,” it focuses on what actually slows people down: consistent metadata, repeatable sampling methods, and export formats that labs and agencies accept. Users create survey templates (pitfall traps, light sheets, timed searches), capture GPS, habitat notes, effort, photos, and specimen handling details, then generate standardized reports and CSVs for iNaturalist, GBIF-style datasets, or internal lab databases. It includes offline mode for remote fieldwork and a lightweight AI assist that suggests likely families/genera from photos and highlights missing required fields—without pretending to be definitive. The core value is speed, consistency, and fewer unusable records. Monetization is via pro subscriptions for teams (shared projects, permissions, audit trails) and institutional licenses for universities, museums, and consultants.
