CompassAudit
CompassAudit is a mobile app (iOS/Android) that stress-tests a phone’s heading compass and produces a simple “trust score” with a shareable report. Instead of pretending a magnetometer is always accurate, it runs short guided motions (figure-eight, rotations, tilt sweeps) and compares sensor fusion stability over time, temperature, and nearby interference. The app flags common failure modes: magnetic disturbance, hard/soft-iron bias, tilt sensitivity, and heading drift when walking or in a vehicle. Users can save “environments” (car mount, bike handlebars, boat console) and get a quick pass/fail before relying on heading for navigation. It also includes a lightweight offline heading display with large digits and haptic cues, but the main value is diagnostics and repeatable validation. This is a traditional app with a small AI component for anomaly classification and report summarization.
