ConsentKey

ConsentKey is a mobile + web app that lets users prove specific facts about themselves (age over 18, residency, student status, employment) without handing over full IDs or extra personal data. It uses verifiable credentials and selective disclosure so a user can approve a “proof request” from a website or business and share only the minimum required attributes. The app keeps an audit trail of what was shared, with whom, and when, and can revoke future sharing by rotating credentials. For businesses, a lightweight verification portal and SDK reduces liability by avoiding storage of sensitive documents. This is not a magic replacement for government ID checks everywhere—many merchants will still demand full scans—but it’s a realistic privacy upgrade for common, repeatable checks where over-collection is rampant (age gates, memberships, access control, hiring pre-screens).
