ContextCite

ContextCite is a browser-based fact-checking companion that focuses on one of the most common misinformation tactics: misleading quotes and clipped context. Users paste a quote, screenshot text, or a link; the app finds the earliest available source, pulls surrounding paragraphs, and highlights what was removed or reframed. It then generates a concise “context card” you can share, showing the original passage, publication date, author, and any later edits or syndications. It also flags common manipulation patterns (selective ellipses, swapped attribution, recycled headlines) and provides a confidence score with transparent citations. This is an AI + traditional web app: AI helps locate and summarize context, but the output is anchored to verifiable sources and archived snapshots. It’s built for speed—designed to be used in under 60 seconds during real-world scrolling.
