CoreSnap

CoreSnap is a mobile AI + traditional field-logging app for hobbyists and students who want more than a shaky “rock ID” guess. You take photos, add simple context (location, hardness test result, streak color, magnetism), and the app returns a ranked shortlist with confidence, plus the specific tests that would confirm or rule out each option. It also builds a clean, exportable collection log with GPS, notes, and photos, so users can track where specimens came from and what evidence supports the ID. Brutal truth: pure photo-only mineral ID is unreliable, especially for lookalikes, weathered surfaces, and lighting. CoreSnap succeeds by forcing lightweight evidence capture and teaching users the minimum viable field tests, making IDs more defensible and the log actually useful for classes, clubs, and personal collections.
