CostLensDB

CostLensDB is a web app (with optional Slack alerts) that maps cloud database usage to dollars in near real time and explains the “why” behind cost spikes. It ingests billing + metrics from major managed databases (AWS RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, GCP Cloud SQL/Spanner, Azure SQL/Cosmos DB) and correlates them with query patterns, connection storms, autoscaling events, backups, storage growth, and cross-region traffic. The product’s core output is a cost driver timeline: what changed, which service component caused it, and what action will reduce it (index change, query rewrite, TTL policy, right-sizing, reserved capacity, backup retention tweaks). It’s not a generic FinOps dashboard; it’s database-specific cost attribution and recommendations that engineers can act on. Expect some integrations to be brittle and initial coverage to be limited—start with 2-3 databases and expand.
