CostSignal
CostSignal is a web app (with optional CLI agent) that ties observability data to real cloud spend so engineers can see which services, endpoints, and traces are actually driving the bill. Instead of another dashboard of RED metrics, it highlights “cost anomalies” (e.g., a new retry loop, chatty dependency calls, high-cardinality logs) and shows the estimated dollar impact per hour/day. It ingests OpenTelemetry traces/metrics/logs and correlates them with AWS Cost Explorer (and later GCP/Azure) using tags, resource IDs, and deployment metadata. The product is opinionated: it focuses on a small set of actionable views—top cost regressions by deploy, cost per request by route, and “what changed” diffs—so teams can fix waste quickly. It’s not a replacement for Datadog/New Relic; it’s a cost lens on top of what teams already collect.
