CostSignal
CostSignal is a web app (with optional Slack integration) that monitors observability spend drivers across logs, metrics, and traces and pinpoints exactly which services, endpoints, tenants, and tags are inflating your bill. Instead of generic “reduce cardinality” advice, it continuously profiles telemetry volume, high-cardinality dimensions, and burst patterns, then produces a ranked list of concrete actions: drop/transform rules, sampling recommendations, retention changes, and dashboard/query fixes. It also adds guardrails: budget alerts, anomaly detection on ingestion, and “cost impact” previews for proposed instrumentation changes. This is not a full observability platform; it plugs into what you already use (Datadog, Grafana Cloud, New Relic, Elastic, OpenTelemetry collectors) and focuses on cost governance and hygiene. It’s realistic because nearly every team is drowning in telemetry and finance is now asking hard questions.
