CourseLock

CourseLock is a mobile app that delivers a steadier, more trustworthy heading by fusing phone sensors with motion context. Instead of pretending the magnetometer is always right, it detects when readings are contaminated (car dashboards, speakers, power lines, metal railings) and automatically switches to a “gyro-first” heading hold, then gently re-aligns when conditions improve. It includes a quick, guided calibration check (not a long ritual) and a confidence meter that tells you when to trust the number. For hikers, boaters, drone pilots, and field techs, it also logs heading stability over time so you can diagnose recurring interference spots. This is not magic: in heavy interference it will admit uncertainty rather than outputting a confident wrong direction. The goal is fewer navigation mistakes caused by bad headings, not another pretty compass dial.
