CrosswalkHQ
CrosswalkHQ is a web app (with optional desktop connector) that helps libraries and archives create, test, and maintain metadata crosswalks between common schemas (MARC21, Dublin Core, MODS, EAD, BIBFRAME, local fields). Instead of hand-editing brittle XSLT or one-off scripts, users build mappings in a visual workspace, run validations on sample batches, and export repeatable transformation jobs. It includes an AI-assisted helper to propose initial mappings and flag likely semantic mismatches (e.g., creator vs contributor, date granularity, language codes), but it never auto-applies changes without review. The product is realistic: it won’t “fix” messy metadata magically; it reduces the time and risk of migrations, consortium merges, and repository replatforming by making mapping decisions explicit, testable, and versioned. It targets small-to-mid institutions that can’t afford enterprise integration consultants every time they move systems.
