CruiseLedger
CruiseLedger is a mobile + web app that tracks oceanographic samples from collection to analysis with a strict, timestamped chain-of-custody. It replaces fragile spreadsheets and inconsistent notebook photos by enforcing standardized metadata (station, depth, bottle ID, preservative, storage temp, handler) and linking it to QR-coded labels. Offline-first mobile capture works on deck with spotty connectivity; sync happens when back online. The web dashboard lets PIs and lab managers audit completeness, flag anomalies (missing depths, duplicate IDs, impossible timestamps), and export clean packages for common repositories and lab LIMS imports. This is a traditional app with light AI assistance: an on-device OCR/vision step can read handwritten bottle IDs or rack positions to reduce typing errors, but the core value is reliable workflow and auditability. Realistically, adoption depends on being faster than “just a spreadsheet” and not getting in the way during hectic sampling.
