CueDistance

CueDistance is a mobile app (with optional smartwatch support) that helps people manage personal space in real-world interactions. Using on-device Bluetooth + ultra-wideband (where available) and short calibration prompts, it estimates proximity to nearby devices and gives subtle haptic alerts when you’re inside a user-defined comfort zone. It’s designed for people who struggle with reading social distance cues—especially in crowded lines, elevators, classrooms, and workplaces. The app includes “contexts” (commute, office, date, sensory overload) that change thresholds and alert styles, plus a quick “I’m okay / not okay” check-in to log situations and learn patterns over time. It’s not magic: it won’t detect people without phones/wearables, and accuracy varies by device and environment. But for many users, even imperfect reminders reduce stress and prevent repeated uncomfortable moments.
