CurbScout

CurbScout is a mobile app that helps people choose walking routes based on real, practical constraints: curb cuts, steep slopes, stairs, surface quality, and crossing complexity. Instead of “fastest route,” it offers “most accessible,” “least steep,” and “fewest risky crossings,” using a mix of map data and lightweight user reports with photo proof. The app is built for reality: coverage will be uneven at first, so it clearly shows confidence levels per block and avoids pretending it knows everything. Users can quickly flag a missing curb ramp, a broken sidewalk segment, or a construction detour, and the app reroutes accordingly. A simple “walkability score” is generated per route with explanations (e.g., 3 steep blocks, 2 uncontrolled crossings). Monetization is straightforward: subscription for advanced routing and an optional B2B dashboard for campuses and municipalities.
