CutMap

CutMap is a web + desktop companion app that helps documentary editors and producers turn messy interview transcripts into a structured, edit-ready story map. You upload transcripts (or sync from common transcription tools), then tag beats (setup, conflict, reveal, resolution), themes, characters, and claims. CutMap auto-builds a visual “story graph” showing which quotes support which beats, where you have redundancy, and where you have holes (missing POV, weak stakes, no ending). It exports a paper edit, a beat sheet, and marker files you can import into Premiere Pro/DaVinci Resolve to speed assembly. This is an AI + traditional app: AI suggests beat labels and thematic clusters, but humans stay in control with fast keyboard-driven review. It’s not magic—bad transcripts and weak interviews still produce weak structure—but it can cut days of organizing down to hours.
