DataBouncer

DataBouncer is a mobile + browser extension that flags and blocks privacy-risky health data flows in real time. It monitors outbound traffic from popular health apps and patient portals (where technically feasible via on-device VPN and extension permissions), then labels destinations (ad networks, analytics, data brokers) and the type of data likely being sent (symptoms, medications, fertility, mental health signals). Users can allow, block, or “mask” specific categories with one tap, and get a weekly privacy receipt showing what was shared and what was stopped. It also provides plain-English explanations of app permissions, SDK trackers detected, and recommended safer alternatives. This is not magic: it won’t decrypt everything and some apps will break when blocked. The value is giving users practical control and visibility without needing to be a security expert.
