DealGuard
DealGuard is a mobile app (with optional web dashboard) that verifies whether a grocery “deal” is actually a deal. Users scan a shelf tag or receipt; the app normalizes unit prices (per oz/ml/count), flags misleading multi-buy promos, and compares against your personal price history and a small set of nearby stores you choose. It also tracks shrinkflation by detecting size changes over time and shows a simple “fair price range” for staples you buy often. This is an AI + traditional app: AI reads messy shelf labels/receipts and matches products; the rest is deterministic price math and history. It won’t magically cover every store—coverage starts with user-submitted receipts and a few supported retailers. The value is clarity: fewer impulse “deals,” fewer overpays, and better timing for stock-ups.
