DemandShed

DemandShed is a web + mobile app for small commercial buildings to reduce peak-demand charges using the data they already have. It connects to utility interval data (Green Button where available) and common building systems (smart thermostats, EV chargers, battery inverters if present). The app forecasts tomorrow’s likely peak windows, then offers simple, pre-approved “shed plans” (e.g., pre-cool 30 minutes, stagger EV charging, temporarily relax setpoints) with estimated dollar savings and comfort impact. Users can run in advisory mode (notifications + checklists) or enable limited automation via supported integrations. Reporting is built for non-energy experts: it translates kW peaks into bill impact, verifies what worked, and flags when savings claims are unreliable due to missing data. It’s realistic: it won’t promise miracles, but it can reliably shave the worst spikes that drive demand charges.
