DetourDesk

DetourDesk is a web app (with a lightweight mobile companion) that helps municipalities, utilities, and contractors coordinate lane closures, detours, and work zones using a single, permit-linked calendar and map. It ingests planned work from permit systems and contractor submissions, then flags conflicts like overlapping closures on key corridors, school routes, or emergency response paths. Users can propose alternate schedules, generate standardized detour plans, and publish public-facing notices and GIS layers. An AI component summarizes permit text, extracts dates/locations, and suggests conflict resolutions based on historical patterns, but the core value is operational: fewer surprises, fewer angry residents, and fewer “we didn’t know they were closing that too” moments. The MVP focuses on one city/region at a time, integrates with common GIS formats, and provides audit trails so agencies can defend decisions and enforce compliance.
