DialectVault

DialectVault is a mobile + web app for rapid, structured collection of endangered-language audio in the field. Speakers or community recordists can capture short prompts (stories, wordlists, conversations) while the app automatically logs time, location (optional), speaker consent, and basic sociolinguistic metadata. The web dashboard lets linguists and language programs review, tag, and export sessions to common archival formats without spending weeks cleaning spreadsheets. It’s not a magic “save the language” product; it’s a workflow tool that reduces friction in documentation and makes recordings immediately usable for teaching materials and archives. The AI component is optional: it can generate rough phonetic/orthographic drafts when a language has enough prior data, but the core value works even with zero model support. Offline-first design is critical for remote areas and low connectivity.
