DocTrail

DocTrail is a web app (with optional Slack/Teams add-ons) that improves internal search by ranking content based on what actually gets used, not just keywords. It connects to Google Drive, Confluence, Notion, SharePoint, and Slack, then builds “usage trails” from signals like links shared in chats, docs opened after specific questions, and pages referenced in tickets. Users can search normally, but results include: the most-followed path to an answer, who last used the doc, and what people clicked next. It also flags “dead docs” (never opened, outdated, or contradicted by newer sources) and suggests merges/archives. This is an AI + traditional app: AI is used for query understanding, deduping near-identical docs, and summarizing why a result is trusted, while deterministic tracking handles ranking and trails. It’s realistic because it doesn’t promise perfect knowledge; it just makes discovery measurably faster.
