DocuRights

DocuRights is a web app (with optional mobile companion) that helps documentary filmmakers track and clear rights for archival footage, photos, music, artwork, and on-camera releases. It centralizes every asset, its source, license terms, expiration dates, territory restrictions, and proof documents in one place. The AI layer can extract key terms from uploaded licenses, flag missing fields (e.g., perpetuity vs. term, worldwide vs. limited territories), and generate a clearance checklist per cut of the film. It also produces shareable “chain-of-title” packets for distributors, insurers (E&O), and festivals. This is not a magic legal solution: it won’t replace lawyers or guarantee clearance. But it can reduce the chaos, prevent expensive last-minute surprises, and make the clearance process auditable and collaboration-friendly for small teams.
