DocuScout
DocuScout is a mobile + web app (traditional + AI) that helps people quickly decide what documentary to watch and where to stream it. Instead of generic star ratings, it breaks each film into “what you’ll actually get”: topic map, stance/bias signals, credibility indicators (sources shown, expert diversity, archival use), pacing, and emotional tone. The AI generates a spoiler-safe brief, key claims, and a “watch if / skip if” checklist, while human and community inputs keep it grounded. It also solves the annoying part: streaming availability by country, price changes, and alerts when a doc hits your services. The MVP focuses on a curated catalog (not everything ever made) because competing with IMDb/Letterboxd scale is a losing game. Monetization is realistic: affiliate links to rentals/subscriptions, a small premium tier for advanced filters and alerts, and B2B licensing of metadata to newsletter creators.
