DraftLedger

DraftLedger is a web + desktop app that gives creative writers real version control without the developer baggage. Instead of scattering drafts across Google Docs, Scrivener files, and “final_final2.docx,” it automatically snapshots changes, lets you compare scenes side-by-side, and roll back to any point in time. It also adds lightweight “commit messages” for writers (e.g., “tightened dialogue,” “changed POV,” “cut chapter 3”) and a timeline view that shows how a manuscript evolved. An optional AI layer can summarize what changed between versions, flag continuity issues introduced by edits, and generate a clean changelog for editors or beta readers. This is not a full writing suite; it integrates with the tools writers already use via import/export and a minimal editor for quick fixes. The goal is fewer lost drafts, faster editing, and less anxiety around big revisions.
