DriftAnchor

DriftAnchor is a mobile app (with an optional desktop dashboard) that provides dead-reckoning navigation for people who routinely lose GPS: offshore sailors, backcountry pilots, off-road rally teams, and remote-field crews. It fuses phone IMU sensors with external Bluetooth sensors (wheel-speed OBD-II, marine NMEA 0183/2000 gateways, footpods) to estimate heading, speed, and position when GNSS drops out. The app shows an uncertainty “error bubble” that grows over time, prompts users to add manual fixes (landmark bearing, known waypoint, map pin), and logs tracks for post-mission review. This is a combination traditional + AI app: traditional sensor fusion for core positioning, plus AI to detect sensor drift, auto-calibrate, and suggest when a manual fix is needed. Realistically, it won’t beat dedicated avionics; it’s a pragmatic backup tool.
