EddyAlert

EddyAlert is a web + mobile app (traditional + AI) that turns complex ocean-circulation data into simple, location-specific risk alerts for coastal operations. Users pick a coastline segment, port, or offshore site and set thresholds (surface current speed, direction shifts, upwelling likelihood, eddy proximity). The app ingests public ocean models (e.g., HYCOM/CMEMS where available), satellite-derived sea-surface height anomalies, and local buoy data, then produces a “next 72 hours” brief plus confidence levels. The AI layer doesn’t pretend to forecast physics better than models; it summarizes uncertainty, flags regime shifts, and explains drivers in plain language (“wind reversal + eddy edge = strong cross-current”). It’s built for people who need actionable go/no-go guidance, not pretty maps. Realistically, accuracy will be uneven nearshore; the product wins by being transparent and operationally useful, not by claiming perfect predictions.
