ElderLink
ElderLink is a mobile + web AI app that helps communities and linguists capture endangered-language speech and turn it into usable learning content with minimal technical overhead. Users record short conversations or prompts with elders, then the app generates time-aligned transcripts, rough translations, and bite-sized “micro-lessons” (audio + text + simple quiz cards). It also produces a clean export package for archives (WAV, TextGrid, ELAN-compatible annotations, metadata) so the data isn’t trapped in the app. The reality: most revitalization efforts fail because documentation is slow, inconsistent, and hard to reuse for teaching. ElderLink focuses on speed and repeatability, not perfect linguistics. It supports offline-first recording, consent capture, and community-controlled sharing rules. It’s built to be practical for small teams with limited funding and time, while still producing outputs researchers can actually work with.
