EmbargoPilot
EmbargoPilot is a web app (with optional desktop email add-ins) that prevents accidental early releases and rights violations in institutional repositories. It plugs into common repository workflows by monitoring deposit metadata, attached files, and publisher policy signals, then flags risky items before they’re published. The core value is not “finding repositories” but reducing staff time spent on manual checks, back-and-forth with authors, and post-publication takedowns. It provides a simple queue: items needing review, why they’re risky, and the recommended action (delay, redact, replace version, or request author clarification). It also generates an audit trail for compliance reporting. This is a combination traditional + AI app: rules handle deterministic policy constraints, while AI helps interpret publisher agreements, detect version types (preprint/accepted/manuscript), and summarize what’s missing.
