EmbargoPing

EmbargoPing is a web app (with optional browser extension) that tracks embargoed articles and automatically alerts libraries, authors, and repository managers the moment a paper becomes legally open. It ingests metadata from Crossref, Unpaywall, publisher pages, and institutional repositories, then normalizes versions (preprint, accepted manuscript, version of record) and rights signals. Users create watchlists by DOI, journal, funder, author, or affiliation, and route notifications to email, Slack/Teams, or a repository workflow queue. The app also generates a “deposit-ready” checklist: which version is allowed, where to obtain it, required acknowledgments, and license recommendations. This is a traditional app with light AI assistance for metadata matching and deduplication (not a chat bot). The realistic value is operational: fewer missed deposits, faster OA compliance, and less manual checking across scattered sources.
