EruvAtlas

EruvAtlas is a mobile + web app that centralizes eruv boundary status and practical walking guidance for Jews moving between Israel and diaspora communities. Users search a city or neighborhood, see the current eruv status (up/down/unknown), the last verified update time, and a simple map overlay with boundary notes and common pitfalls (bridges, parks, disconnected poles). Communities can appoint verified “gabbaim/admins” who post official updates, while regular users can submit reports with photos that are queued for review. The app also supports Shabbat-mode UX (no interaction prompts after candle lighting) and pre-downloadable maps for travelers. This is not glamorous: it’s logistics and trust. The value is reducing uncertainty for observant families, travelers, and students who repeatedly face “Is the eruv up?” confusion in unfamiliar places.
