EthicCart is a mobile + web app that helps shoppers verify fair-trade claims for specific products and batches, not just brands. Users scan a barcode/QR in-store or online, and the app returns a confidence score based on certification databases, importer/exporter records, and supply-chain disclosures. It also flags common greenwashing patterns (vague labels, unverifiable seals, outdated certificates) and suggests verified alternatives at similar price points. For small retailers and DTC brands, EthicCart offers a lightweight portal to upload certificates, lot numbers, and audit summaries, then generate a consumer-facing verification page. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI is used to extract and standardize documents, detect inconsistencies, and keep records current. The goal is not perfect truth—it's practical, transparent evidence that’s better than guesswork.
