EthicClaim

EthicClaim is a web + mobile app that helps shoppers and advocacy groups verify “not tested on animals” and “alternative methods used” claims with traceable evidence. Users scan a product barcode or search a brand, then see a confidence score backed by citations: regulatory filings, supplier statements, certification databases, and public disclosures. The app flags common loopholes (e.g., third-party testing for market access, ingredient-level testing, parent-company policies) and shows what would change the rating. It also lets brands submit documentation through a structured portal, but everything is labeled as “brand-provided” until independently corroborated. This is not a feel-good directory; it’s a verification workflow with receipts. The realistic limitation: coverage will start narrow (top categories/regions) because data is messy and often non-public, so the MVP focuses on high-volume brands and transparent scoring rather than pretending to be exhaustive.
