EthicsTrail
EthicsTrail is a web app (with optional mobile companion) that turns messy research-ethics compliance into an auditable, time-stamped trail. It guides researchers through IRB/ethics requirements with jurisdiction- and institution-specific checklists, then captures evidence as they work: consent form versions, recruitment messages, data handling decisions, adverse event logs, protocol deviations, and approvals. An AI assistant flags missing artifacts, inconsistent statements across documents, and risky language in consent forms (e.g., coercive phrasing, unclear data retention). It generates a “compliance packet” export for audits, journal queries, and funder reporting. The brutal truth: most labs don’t fail ethics because they’re malicious—they fail because they’re disorganized, rushed, and can’t prove what they did. This product sells by reducing admin time and lowering audit/publishing risk, not by promising perfect ethics.
