EvacRoute
EvacRoute is a mobile + web app that generates evacuation routes that account for real-world failure modes during extreme events (wildfire, floods, hurricanes, blizzards). Instead of only showing the “fastest” path, it scores roads by risk using live closures, flood depth estimates, fire perimeters, wind forecasts, traffic speed, and cell-coverage likelihood. Users can pre-build a household plan (multiple destinations, meet-up points, pet needs, medical dependencies) and download offline map tiles and turn-by-turn instructions. During an event, the app switches to a low-data, battery-saver mode and provides simple, high-contrast guidance plus “plan B/C” alternates if conditions change. It also supports a lightweight check-in link for family members that works on weak networks. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI helps risk scoring, summarization, and personalized planning, but core routing remains deterministic and auditable.
