ExitBuddy
ExitBuddy is a mobile app (with optional web dashboard) that helps people create a practical “safe space” around themselves when they feel unsafe on dates, rideshares, parties, or during conflict at home. Users set up a small trusted circle, define code words, and configure timed check-ins. If a check-in is missed or a code word is used, the app escalates through a preset ladder: ping trusted contacts, share live location, start discreet audio recording, and (optionally) prompt a call to local emergency services. It also includes “pre-planned exits” like fake-call scripts, calendar pings, and a one-tap ride request shortcut. This is not therapy and it won’t prevent harm; it’s a coordination tool that reduces decision-making under stress. The app is designed to work with spotty connectivity and to look innocuous on the home screen.
