FabPass

FabPass is a web + mobile app for makerspaces to manage member onboarding, safety training, and machine access control in one place. Members complete required quizzes and video modules, then earn digital “badges” that unlock specific tools (e.g., laser cutter, CNC, welding). Staff get a simple admin console to assign training paths, track incidents, and see who is authorized right now. The app can integrate with door controllers and smart plugs/relays (where available) to prevent untrained users from powering on restricted equipment. This is not a glamorous product: it’s operational plumbing that reduces liability and staff time. The MVP focuses on training + authorization + audit logs, because most makerspaces already limp along with spreadsheets, paper waivers, and tribal knowledge. The goal is fewer unsafe moments and fewer arguments at the tool.
