FactScribe

FactScribe is a web app (with a lightweight browser extension) that helps nonfiction writers verify claims while they write. You paste a paragraph or highlight a sentence, and it returns: (1) what claims are being made, (2) which ones are checkable, (3) suggested reputable sources, and (4) properly formatted citations (APA/MLA/Chicago) that match the exact claim. It also flags “citation drift” where a source doesn’t actually support the statement, plus a confidence score and a short rationale. The goal isn’t to replace research—it’s to cut the time wasted chasing sources and reduce embarrassing errors before publication. It keeps a per-project source library, tracks which claims are supported by which sources, and exports a clean bibliography and footnotes. This is an AI + traditional app: AI for claim extraction and source matching, traditional logic for citation management and project organization.
