FairWageMap
FairWageMap is a mobile + web app that turns fair-trade claims into a simple, comparable “worker pay score” for specific products and brands. Users scan a barcode or search a product, then see: estimated farmgate price, typical local living-wage benchmarks, certification status, and a confidence rating based on available evidence. The app doesn’t pretend to have perfect truth; it clearly labels what’s verified, self-reported, or inferred. Brands and cooperatives can upload documents (contracts, audit summaries, price sheets) and get a public profile that rewards transparency. For shoppers, it offers a short list of better alternatives in the same category and price range. For NGOs and researchers, it provides aggregated, anonymized insights on where wage gaps are largest. The goal is not “feel-good ethical shopping,” but practical, evidence-weighted decision support.
