FareGuard

FareGuard is a mobile app that stores verifiable proof of light-rail fare purchase and pass validity in a way that still works when cellular service is weak, ticketing apps crash, or inspectors’ scanners are slow. Riders link their existing transit account or import ticket receipts/QRs, then the app generates an offline-ready “inspection card” with time-stamped, cryptographically signed proof and a clear audit trail. It also logs inspection events (optional) so riders can dispute wrongful citations with a clean record. This is not a new ticketing system; it’s a reliability layer that sits on top of what agencies already use. Realistically, agencies may resist anything that looks like bypassing their app, so the product must be positioned as a rider-side wallet plus an agency-facing verification API pilot. The business model is freemium for riders and paid integrations for agencies or employers/universities.
