FareNudge

FareNudge is a mobile app (with a lightweight web dashboard) that tells riders the cheapest valid fare product for their exact trip pattern—before they buy or tap. Many agencies have confusing rules: peak/off-peak, caps, zones, transfers, passes that only pay off after N rides, and special products for students/seniors. FareNudge asks a few questions (home station/stop, typical trips per week, time windows, eligibility) and then simulates costs across all available fare options for that agency, including fare capping where supported. It also tracks your actual rides (manual entry or imported history where available) and nudges you when you’re about to overspend (e.g., “One more ride today and a day pass would have been cheaper—buy it now”). This is not a magic universal integration: it works best city-by-city, starting with agencies that publish clear fare tables and APIs.
