FieldScribe
FieldScribe is a mobile + web app for recording oral history interviews with built-in, research-friendly structure. It guides interviewers through consent, metadata (who/where/when), and topic prompts, then produces a clean, searchable transcript with timecodes and speaker labels. The core value is not “AI storytelling”—it’s reducing the tedious post-interview work that causes most projects to stall: file chaos, missing context, and unusable transcripts. Users can tag sensitive segments, set embargo dates, and export to common archive formats (WAV/MP3, PDF, CSV, JSON) so the material isn’t trapped in the app. Realistically, it won’t replace professional archivists or high-end transcription vendors, but it can make small teams and community groups actually finish and publish collections instead of leaving recordings on a hard drive.
