FieldSpeak Kits is a mobile + web app that helps small language teams collect usable, consistent recordings and metadata in the field—without relying on constant internet or expert linguists. On mobile, users follow guided “session templates” (wordlist, story, conversation, elicitation) that enforce minimum quality: mic checks, environment noise warnings, speaker consent capture, and required metadata (speaker age range, location, topic, dialect notes). The app auto-generates a clean package: audio, timestamps, basic segmentation, and export-ready metadata (CSV/ELAN-friendly). On web, project admins review submissions, flag issues, and export datasets for archiving or analysis. This is a combination traditional + AI app: AI is used only for assistive tasks like noise detection, rough language-agnostic segmentation, and optional draft transcription when a model exists—never as the “source of truth.” It’s built for practicality, not hype.
