FilingBuddy

FilingBuddy is a mobile + web AI-assisted intake and document-prep app for people who can’t afford a lawyer but still need to file something correctly (small claims, eviction responses, simple custody motions, fee waivers). Users answer plain-language questions, upload photos of notices, and the app generates jurisdiction-specific, court-ready PDFs with a checklist of what to print, sign, and bring. It also provides deadline reminders and a “what happens next” timeline based on the case type. The app is brutally clear about limits: it’s not a lawyer, it won’t give legal advice, and it won’t promise outcomes. The core value is reducing rejected filings and missed deadlines—two common, costly failure points for self-represented litigants. Monetization is per-filing ($19–$49) with waivers via nonprofits/courts, plus B2B licensing for legal aid clinics.
