FixityForge

FixityForge is a web app (with optional desktop agent) for small-to-mid libraries and archives that need trustworthy digital preservation hygiene without buying a full enterprise repository. It continuously verifies file integrity (checksums), tracks storage locations, flags bit-rot or missing files, and generates audit-ready reports for internal governance and grant requirements. A lightweight desktop agent watches designated folders or network shares, computes checksums, and syncs only metadata to the cloud dashboard. The app focuses on the unglamorous but critical work: fixity schedules, retention rules, chain-of-custody notes, and “what changed, when, and by whom.” It’s not a magic digitization tool; it’s a pragmatic safety net for born-digital collections and digitized masters already sitting on drives. An AI assistant can help interpret failures, draft incident tickets, and summarize monthly preservation status in plain language.
