FixMyBlock

FixMyBlock is a mobile + web app that makes neighborhood infrastructure problems (potholes, broken lights, illegal dumping, sidewalk hazards) impossible for cities to ignore. Residents submit a photo, location, and quick category; the app automatically routes it to the correct department, tracks status, and publicly displays response times by agency and district. It also supports “verification” by nearby users to reduce spam and duplicates, and generates a simple paper trail residents can use when calling 311 or council offices. For city staff, a lightweight web dashboard groups issues by severity, proximity, and repeat occurrences, and exports to existing work-order systems via CSV/API. This is not magic: many cities are slow, and some won’t integrate. The value is in clean, structured reports, persistent tracking, and public performance visibility that pressures follow-through.
