FixTheHum
FixTheHum is a desktop app (Windows/macOS) that diagnoses and removes electrical hum and buzz from recorded audio using targeted DSP, not generic noise reduction. You import a clip, and it automatically detects mains frequency (50/60 Hz) plus harmonics, estimates drift, and proposes a notch-filter stack with safe Q values. It also flags likely causes (ground loop, dimmer, USB noise) based on spectral fingerprints and time-domain behavior, then provides a simple “before/after” audition with loudness matching. The app exports cleaned audio or generates filter presets for common DAWs (as EQ curves or plugin parameter sets). It’s not magic: if the hum overlaps heavily with the source (bass notes, sustained synths), it will warn you and show the tradeoff. The goal is fast, repeatable cleanup for editors who don’t want to become DSP experts.
